Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders
One of the things that gives me the most hope for the future of our Tribe is the talent, work ethic, and potential I see in our young adults.
We have a generation coming up that is eager to learn, eager to contribute, and eager for the opportunity to lead.
The question is—are we preparing them for that future?
Preparing for What Comes Next
As our Tribe continues to grow, we must also think about the future of our workforce and leadership.
Who will carry our legacy forward?
Who will lead our programs, departments, businesses, and community in the years ahead?
Those answers depend on what we do today.
I believe strongly that we need to continue investing resources into workforce development, training programs, leadership development, and career readiness opportunities for our younger Tribal Citizens.
Because leadership is not something that happens overnight—it is developed over time through experience, mentorship, and opportunity.
Creating Real Opportunities
Our young adults need more than encouragement—they need pathways.
Pathways that allow them to:
- Gain hands-on experience
- Develop leadership skills
- Learn how Tribal Government and Tribal enterprises operate
- Build confidence in their abilities
- Prepare for meaningful careers and future leadership roles
When we invest in people early, we strengthen the future of our entire community.
Talent Is Already Around Us
One thing I’ve noticed is that we already have talented individuals around us.
Young people who are motivated.
Young people who care about the future of the Tribe.
Young people who simply need an opportunity and someone willing to invest in them.
That is exciting to me.
Because the future of our Tribe should not rest solely on the current generation—it should be strengthened by preparing the next one.
Leadership Through Investment
Strong leadership is not just about making decisions today.
It is about preparing others to lead tomorrow.
That means:
- Mentoring
- Teaching
- Creating opportunities
- Sharing knowledge and experience
- Encouraging involvement and engagement
The strongest communities are the ones that intentionally develop future leaders before the need becomes urgent.
Excited About the Future
I am excited about the future of our Tribe because I believe the next generation has incredible potential.
I see future leaders around us every day.
The opportunity before us is to make sure they are prepared, supported, and given the tools they need to succeed.
Because when we invest in our young adults, we are investing in the future strength, stability, and success of our Tribe.
Moving Forward Together
As we look ahead, I believe one of the greatest things we can do is continue building opportunities for our younger Tribal Citizens to grow into leadership roles.
Not just for themselves—but for the future of our entire community.
Because one day, they will be the ones carrying the responsibility of leading us forward.
And I believe they are capable of doing great things.
